What the free tools are

The hail lookups on this site are built on NOAA MRMS and NWS data, which is public domain. They are free, they need no account, and we make no promise about uptime. If an upstream federal service is down, the tools say so rather than returning an empty answer that reads like "no hail".

What Roof Watch is

Roof Watch is a paid monitoring service for the continental United States. It stores a list a customer deliberately uploads and checks each coordinate every 30 minutes against NOAA's roughly 1 km MESH hail grid, active NWS warning polygons and recent NWS Local Storm Reports. It emails when hail crosses the configured threshold or materially increases, or when new damaging-wind, tornado, hurricane, extreme-wind or tropical-cyclone evidence reaches the property's stated boundary. The $49 monthly plan and $349 annual plan each allow up to 5,000 watched properties and include the existing regional ZIP/radius alert.

There is no service-level guarantee. NOAA, Census, Netlify, Stripe or email delivery can be delayed or unavailable. An unavailable source is not turned into a false clean result; independent feeds can continue while the failed source retries. Roof Watch is a screening and prioritization tool, not an emergency-warning service, insurance report or substitute for inspection.

Weather evidence is not damage

MESH is a radar estimate of the largest hail a storm was capable of producing over a grid cell. It is not an observation, not a measurement, and not evidence that any specific roof was damaged. Nothing on this site is an insurance report, an engineering assessment, or a claim document. An NWS warning describes a threat over a polygon, not observed conditions at every building. A Local Storm Report is a preliminary point report near a property, not proof of conditions at that property. A roof has to be inspected by a person after conditions are safe. You are responsible for what you tell a homeowner.

What we do not do

We do not contact homeowners on your behalf, sign anything for you, or take a share of a job. We are not a party to whatever you and the homeowner agree.

Your list and acceptable use

You must have a lawful business reason to upload and monitor a property list. Do not use Roof Watch to harass occupants, misrepresent radar estimates as observed damage, evade do-not-contact rules, or upload data you have no right to use. We do not sell the list, use it as leads, or contact occupants. You can export or delete it from the private management page.

Billing and cancellation

The monthly subscription renews at $49 each month. The annual subscription renews at $349 each year. Both renew through Stripe until cancelled. Prices and renewal periods are shown beside the buy buttons and again before payment. The private management page opens Stripe's self-serve billing portal for payment changes and cancellation; no phone call is required. Access continues through any period Stripe still reports as active, then monitoring stops and the property list is deleted by the next daily cleanup.

The API

The JSON API is keyless and free. Please keep request volume reasonable and identify your tool in a user-agent header. We may rate limit or block traffic that threatens the service for everyone else. The underlying NOAA data is public domain and yours to use; this site's pages and code are not.

Liability

The tools and the data are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from use of this site, and any liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous three months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that affects money or exclusivity, active customers get an email before it takes effect. Governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
