Using the free tools takes no account

You can look up an address without giving us anything. Addresses you type are sent to the US Census geocoder to turn into coordinates, and to NOAA to fetch the radar grid. We do not store the addresses you look up, and we do not build a profile from them.

Analytics

Pages send anonymous usage events to our own collector: the path you visited, how far you scrolled, which buttons you clicked. No cookies, no fingerprinting, no advertising network, no third-party trackers, and no request leaves this site's own domain from your browser. Your browser keeps a rough visit count for itself in local storage; clearing it resets that, and we never hold an identifier for you. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is sent at all. We cannot tell who you are from any of it.

Roof Watch property lists

A paid Roof Watch customer can deliberately upload property addresses, labels, coordinates and a hail threshold. We retain the matched list because persistent roof-event monitoring is the service being bought. The list is encrypted at rest by Netlify, is available only through an expiring private link sent to the Stripe checkout email, and is never published, sold, treated as a lead list, or used to contact the people at those properties.

Raw import files exist only while a background import is running. They are replaced by the matched watch list when processing finishes. Unfinished imports are purged after 24 hours, and import summaries after seven days. Customers can delete the entire list in one click. When a subscription ends, the list and alert state are deleted by the next daily cleanup.

Who processes data

• Netlify hosts the site, functions and encrypted-at-rest watch-list storage.
• US Census Bureau receives an address when it must be converted to coordinates.
• NOAA and the National Weather Service supply the national hail grid, warning polygons and Local Storm Reports. Watched addresses are not sent to them; the national feeds are matched against coordinates inside our function.
• Iowa Environmental Mesonet republishes the NWS Local Storm Report feed used for nearby wind, tornado and tropical-cyclone evidence. Watched addresses are not sent to it.
• Stripe holds checkout email, billing and subscription status. We do not copy the billing profile into the watch-list store.
• Resend delivers management links and roof-event alerts to the checkout email.

We do not sell personal information or share one customer's property list or contact details with another customer.

How long we keep it

Stripe retains billing records under its own legal and accounting obligations. Half Mile Hail keeps the matched watch list only while the subscription is active, except for the short job windows stated above. The free tools do not store lookup addresses.

This is a tool for businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
